How do I use Inbox tab on Notifications screen?
The Inbox tab in Notification center contains two types of notification events:
- logged-in user's assignments
- logged-in user's @mentions
Note
Events in Inbox are sorted in reverse chronological order (from recent to earlier).
Notification events
A notification event as displayed in Inbox is presented in the picture:
Legend to the illustration:
- New event marker — disappears after you click the item (thus "having acted" on the event)
- Name of the activity you have been assigned to
- Name of the project your assignment belongs to
- Date & time of assignment
- More actions pertaining to the tab as a whole
- More actions pertaining to the item alone
More actions
Each item in Inbox has a "More actions" button that opens into a menu. In the current version, the only action on the menu is Archive. It is used to send a notification event to Archive.
Archiving notifications
To archive a notification:
- Place the mouse pointer on the notification, thus highlighting its row.
- Click the More actions button (6 on the legend above).
- Select Archive on the menu that opens.
Unarchiving notifications
To unarchive a notification:
- Go to the Archive tab.
- Place the mouse pointer on the notification, thus highlighting its row.
- Click the More actions button.
- Select Unarchive on the menu that opens.
@mentions
Note
To learn about @mentions, see Mentioning users on project messageboards.
All incoming @mentions are aggregated on the Inbox tab for ease of reference. You can archive incoming @mentions and unarchive archived ones. You also have the opportunity to go directly to the message board where a @mention was posted.
Legend to the illustration:
- Name of the activity you have been @mentioned at
- Name of the project
- Author of the message in which you were @mentioned
- Date & time of a @mention
- More actions pertaining to the tab as a whole
- More actions pertaining to the item alone
Note
@mentions on project message boards can be distinguished from those on activity message boards by the absence of activity name in the @mention source line (see picture above).
