What is Company Settings?
Company Settings is where you align Birdview with your organization's structure, processes, and preferences — working schedules, security policies, billing rates, user roles, and the lists and workflows your teams use every day. Configuring it is one of the first steps when setting up your workspace, and worth revisiting periodically as your business needs evolve.
To open Company Settings: click your name in the bottom left corner of the screen and select Company Settings. The two most important sections for initial setup are Account Settings and System Lists.
Account Settings
Company schedule. Define whether your organization works all 7 days a week or follows a Monday-to-Friday schedule, and set the number of hours your team is expected to work each day. This schedule is the baseline for resource planning and workload calculations.
Advanced settings. Workspace-wide options, including: your organization's logo, visibility settings, project health settings, the default currency used in projects, how long after a project's completion users can still add time entries, enabling notifications for all users, the resource request process, project archiving, and date roll-ups at the project level.
Security policy. Rules for password structure and how often users must change their passwords.
Payroll rules. The start of the work week and your overtime policies.
Single sign-on (SSO). Configure SSO to meet your organization's security and compliance requirements. See also: SAML OKTA authentication and Google SAML SSO.
System Lists
System lists standardize key project and activity attributes across your organization:
- Categories and priority levels for organizing tasks, issues, and requests.
- Resource Loading (workload thresholds) — percentage-based limits used to identify overloaded and underutilized resources.
- Vacations — the vacation types your organization uses, such as sick leave, parental leave, and bereavement.
- Public holidays — organization- and government-mandated days off. Combined with vacations and the company schedule, these ensure resource availability in Birdview reflects reality.
- Tax rates — defined here for later use in the invoicing module.
